United Nations Association Roadshow

A DOCU-DRAMA Roadshow, presented by The United Nations Association (Bexhill and Hastings Branch) was held at Parkhurst Hall on Saturday.

The free event, and exhibition, explored how the United Nations works, and provided information on what voluntary groups and individuals can do to, 'make it more effective and relevant in today's world'.

The roadshow included talks and a performed dramatic piece, by visiting guest speaker's, UNA London & South East Region project coordinator Sheila Kesby, and Nigel Gregory, who gave a brief account of the UN's foundation, structure and function, along with a discussion on how ordinary people can relate to and influence the United Nations.

Afterwards there followed a question and answer session, and a ploughmans lunch.

Chairman of the UNA Bexhill & Hastings branch, Megan Traice, said the branch, which regularly holds meetings, has a "considerable amount of members within the local area"; with some having been members since 1945.

Megan believes it is a very worthy cause, and actively encourages people to consider joining saying: "We have so many wonderful speakers, and it's very interesting to be a part of this organisation."

With a head office in London, the UNA is independent of the UN system, receives no funding from it, and costs just 3 to join.
