UPDATE: Air Ambulance called after car hits tree

A man was seriously injured after a car left the road and hit a tree.

Emergency services were called the crash in Hanlye Lane, Cuckfield, at around 2.45pm on Friday (February 12).

Police said a blue Honda Civic left the road and hit a tree, leaving the driver trapped.

The Air Ambulance was sent to the scene along with two paramedic cars and an ambulance.

A 37-year-old man, from London, who was driving the car, was taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, in Brighton, with chest injuries.

He has since been discharged, police said.

The road was closed for more than two hours while the incident was dealt with.

Police said they would like to speak to the driver of a silver car, believed to be a Vauxhall Corsa, travelling ahead of the Honda who may have witnessed the incident.
