UPDATE: Appeal after man dies in crash

Police are appealing for information after a man died in a crash in Small Dole yesterday (Sunday October 11).

The two vehicle collision on the A2037 Henfield Road was reported at 12.40pm.

Police said the crash involved a silver Peugeot 207 hatchback and a red Honda CBR600 motorcycle.

Emergency services along with the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance attended the incident.

The motorcyclist, a 30-year-old man from Saltdean, Brighton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The car driver, a 65-year-old woman from Small Dole, suffered severe head and facial injuries and had to be cut free from her car by West Sussex firefighters.

She was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, in Brighton, where she has been detained for treatment. Her condition is described as serious.

The road was closed for six hours, with diversions via Horn Lane and Edburton Road.

Anyone who saw the collision or either vehicle being driven shortly before it occurred is asked to email [email protected] or phone 101, quoting Operation Director.
