Update: Bid for 100 solar panels in Tilgate Park

Plans to install 100 solar panels in Tilgate Park will cost £31,635.

A spokesman for Crawley Borough Council said its scheme would save the council £3,200 in energy bills and 12,000kg in carbon dioxide each year.

It registered its planning bid for 78 panels on the roofs of 1-6 of the craft units - which would power a cafe near Tilgate Nature Centre - and 22 on the rear of an office building on May 4.

Councillors are expected to determine the bid at a meeting on June 29.
