Update: East Surrey Hospital A&E flood ‘under control’

Ambulances are being diverted from A&E at East Surrey Hospital after part of the department flooded today (August 24).

Engineers are working to contain the flood and the hospital said the ‘situation is under control’.

A spokeswoman for Surrey and Sussex Healthcare Trust, said the flood was caused by the heavy rain.

She said: “Patients are being cared for. The hospital has put its continuity plan into action.”

At 3pm a tweet by Surrey and Sussex NHS Healthcare Trust, which runs the hospital, said: “Please be aware that part of our A&E is flooded. Ambulances are being diverted whilst we assess the situation. We will update soon.”
