The A27 in Lewes is closed and there are lengthy delays around the Ashcombe roundabout and Southerham roundabout because of a fallen power cable.

Police were called to the scene shortly before 9am today and motorists are advised to find alternative routes if possible.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said UK Power Network is at the scene attempting to fix the issue.

Police announced the A27 has been closed both ways between Kingston and Southerham roundabouts outside Lewes because of the fallen cable.

The closure is also causing disruption to Brighton and hove Bus Company’s 28 and 29 service.
