A fire in a horse box blocked the A272, causing delays this morning.
A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire and Rescue said they were called at just before 7am about the incident in Coneyhurst, and mobilised two fire engines and an officer.
The fire was put out at just after 7.30am.
Two breathing apparatus, one jet and a compressor foam system was used to extinguish the fire.
They added that no horses were in the box at the time.
As a result of the fire the A272 was blocked, with very slow traffic in both directions between the West Chiltington Lane junction in Billingshurt and the High Street junction in Coneyhurst.
The area has been cleared now.
