Update: Motorway blocked after two crashes

Widespread congestion was reported after two pile-ups on a motorway.

Two anticlockwise lanes were closed on the M25 after two cars and a van crashed at its M23 junction, the BBC said.

Three clockwise lanes were blocked and traffic backed up after four cars collided at the M25-A22 junction near Godstone.

Congestion due to the M23 crash has been cleared.
