Vandals slash tyres

HUNDREDS of pounds worth of damage was caused when vandals went on a Bank Holiday tyre-slashing spree across the town.

The attacks were made at random across a wide swathe of the town.

Sergeant Trish Reeve-Fowkes said on Tuesday that over the weekend police received reports of incidents at Tiverton Drive, The Ridings, St John's Road, Chepbourne Road, Sutton Place and Jameson Road.

In some instances a vehicle suffered a single slashed tyre.

In others such as Tiverton Drive and The Ridings two tyres were slashed.

An owner in Jameson Road will have to replace three tyres and others in Sutton Place, St John's Road and Chepbourne Road four.
