Shoppers in Queens Square were given a lunchtime treat by some of the town’s longest-serving jazz musicians.

The New City Legacy Jazzband helped people chill in the baking sunshine with three hours of music and song on Saturday (July 26).

Band members Alan Kennington, who plays bass, banjo player Dave Cummings and vocalist Penny Payne were all part of the original New City Jazzmen, which was the first group to play at the bandstand when it opened in the square in 1958.
