The independent family brewers, with around 200 pubs in the south, injected a huge £15,300 into the local community last year – boosting the coffers of 22 needy organisations.

The annual event is a chance for voluntary groups and charities to gain funds for everything from new equipment to training.

Mark said: “We never cease to be humbled by how many great, worthy causes there are out there needing a helping hand.

“The Community Chest is all about local help for local people. It helps voluntary organisations at a time when they are probably struggling. So it’s just nice to help so many voluntary organisations who are doing so much good in their communities.”

Grants for between £300 and £3,000 can be requested via the application form.
