W Sussex housing study

A new partnership of councils in West Sussex will work together to assess housing markets across the county.

Arun District Council is joining with other local authorities to look at the types of homes people live in, how much they cost and how far people travel to work.

The study will consider why people choose to live where they do. It will assess the need for affordable housing as well as homes to be sold and rented on the open market and analyse past, current and future housing trends.

The assessment will go on to consider how people might expect to live in the future.

It will be finished this September.

Cllr Ricky Bower, in charge of planning at Arun, said the investigation was extremely important in helping to shape the future of housing in the area.

It would provide vital facts on which the council could base future decisions, including evidence to inform the debate on the proposed eco-town at Ford.
