Storm warning: public advised to make their gardens safe

Following forecasts that strong gusting winds may hit the county Sunday night (October 27) and Monday morning, West Sussex County Council is advising the public to check their gardens.

The council says that: “Members of the public are being warned to put away or secure all outdoor furniture, ladders or anything else that could be blown into windows or other glazing to cause damage ahead of the severe weather.

West Sussex County Council would like to re-assure residents it is monitoring the situation closely and, together with emergency services and other partner organisations, are ready to act if required.”

Gusts of between 60-80mph are predicted across West Sussex from 12am onwards on Monday.

Coastal areas are expected to experience gusts of up to 80mph.

The impact is expected to be particularly strong between 3am and 9am.
