The Met Office forecast for the rest of April and start of May is: “Cold conditions are expected to continue through the rest of next week and into the start of May. Sunny spells and occasional showers are expected, with perhaps some longer periods of rain. These are likely to turn to sleet or snow on high ground, and perhaps to low levels at times.

“Towards the middle of May it is likely that temperatures will return to normal, although the weather is expected to remain rather changeable.”

In the short-term, day-time temperatures will hover around 13/14degC until Thursday, with tomorrow (Wednesday April 20) seeing some sunny spells.

However, by Friday it will drop to single figures with Sunday struggling to hit double figures.

This will be due to a north or north-west wind drawing in the colder weather.
