Plans to build 14 houses on Balcombe Road have been recommended for refusal by Crawley Borough Council’s planning team.

The application, from Albany Homes Southern Ltd, would see eight two-bedroom and six three-bedroom homes built in four short terraces on a strip of land behind Daffodil Crescent, which is currently used by a florist and car wash.

A report to the planning committee, which is due to meet on January 12, said the harm caused by the new houses would outweigh any benefits they might bring.

The main issues centred around potential damage to protected trees and the character of the area as well as noise from the busy Balcombe Road.
