Church: Services at St John’s Church are as usual, there will be Holy Communion at 9.30am on Wednesday.

Churchyard tidy: The churchyard tidy up is on Saturday, October 18 from 9.30am-12 noon. Please come with suitable tools to help clear weeds and brambles and to trim hedges. Details from John 01424 751129.

Village tidy: Many thanks to the hardy volunteers who braved the rain to take party in the Village Tidy on Saturday. Around twenty bags of litter were collected, much of it drinks cans and bottles, sweet and crisp packets and cigarette packets – rather a sad statistic. We also thank the residents who regularly pick up litter in their own patches of the village throughout the year.

Westfield Scouts: are holding a Jumble Sale in Westfield Community Hall at 2.30pm (tomorrow) Saturday October 18. Donations of jumble are welcome at the hall from 1pm, but please note that we cannot accept computer monitors or TVs, or items larger than a chair.

Community Hall: Looking further ahead, the 30th Anniversary of the opening of Westfield Community Hall is being celebrated at the end of the month. Senior residents are invited to a Tea Party on Saturday, October 25 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Community Hall. Football Coaching: Pass and Move runs coaching sessions every Saturday at St Leonard’s Academy from 9-10.30am (£3.50) or 9-11.30am (£5). Tony and Duncan are both UEFA B (level 3) qualified. Westfield FC: Westfield Football Club is still seeking volunteers to help provide local football opportunities at all levels and ages. If you can offer occasional or ongoing support, on or off the pitch, please contact the club via the secretary [email protected].

Race Night fundraiser: Westfield FC are hosting a race night at the Parish Hall on Saturday evening November 8th from 7 until 11. Entry is £5 pp inc a free draw (on the night) for a bottle of champagne. There will be a bar & snacks available and funds raised are to support providing football for all ages.

Access to Employment, Training & Volunteering: The Rye Partnership are hosting an event at Battle Memorial Hall on October 30th 9.30 – 12.30. There will be job opportunities, courses available & information on volunteering.
