Windows smashed as thieves target six cars in one night

Police are investigating after thieves broke into five cars in the same neighbourhood in one night, stealing £500 from one vehicle.

The cars – four of which were taxis – all had their windows smashed while parked in Bewbush overnight on Saturday (March 28). A sixth car – also a taxi – was vandalised in Ifield.

The first car was in Salvington Road. A bag containing sweets, hats and gloves was stolen. The second was in Burrell Court and £30-£40 was stolen. The third was in Middleton Way, Ifield, and £40 was stolen.

Loose change was stolen from the fourth, in Mowbray Drive, while a wallet was searched but nothing taken from a car in Hyperion Court.

The £500 was taken from a taxi in Padstow Walk.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said officers were looking into whether the crimes were linked.
