Wire Spreads Tidings

WICK-based community project The WIRE opened its doors to more than 20 organisations from across the south of England at the project s second annual open day on Wednesday.

The day aimed to provide representatives from the different agencies and charities with advice and information based on the Wire s experiences through a programme of seminars and question-and-answer sessions.

WIRE project manager Paul Sanderson said: "I was just so pleased with the people who made time to come and the team who made the presentations.

"We had 15 people from north London coming down so that the good news about Littlehampton could be spread even farther afield."

The open day was set up after The WIRE kept receiving phone calls and visits from charities wanting to know how the project had been set up and what schemes were running.

Staff and volunteers at the project decided the open day would be the best way for anyone who wished to know more to come along and find out in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

At the end of the day, visitors to the open day were treated to a performance by The WIRE project s Dance Nation group.

Paul Sanderson added: "People with a passion for their communities were really motivated and made some strong friendships."
