Town mayor Councillor Mark Butler said: The town council are always pleased to be able to help local groups and these grants are a way of demonstrating our commitment to working with the community.

Organisations applied to the town council for the funding and a committee considered all the applications, awarding a share of 17,830 to the successful applicants.

Having put up a tent in what seemed like barely 20 seconds, outside the Manor House on Monday morning, Adam Tucknott from Littlehampton Youth Wing said: We are very pleased to get this grant. It will enable us to buy some brand new tents and camping equipment.

Littlehampton Youth Wing helps young people work towards their Duke of Edinburgh awards, among other activities, offering them a unique chance to enjoy a variety of outdoor pursuits.

Also among the beneficiaries were Tuff Fitty Triathlon Club and Littlehampton Swimming Club, both of whom will use their funding on team sportswear.
