Woman has handbag snatched by female thief

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 24-year-old woman was robbed by another woman in Crawley.

The victim was walking in Malthouse Road, Southgate, at about 9.45pm on Thursday (October 17) when she was attacked by a woman who snatched her bag and ran off.

The attacker grabbed the woman’s hair and took her handbag before fleeing with a man.

The thief was of mixed race, in her 30s and was about 5ft 5ins tall.

She was of average build, had her hair tied back in a ponytail and one of her eyebrows had a slit in it.

She was wearing a dark coloured cap and a black jacket.

The man was black and 6ft tall. He was wearing a black jacket.

Detective Constable Roy Perryman said: “This was a nasty sustained attack on the victim as she tried in vain to hold on to her bag.

“She has been left very shaken by what has happened and we are keen to find those responsible.

“We would like to speak to anyone who saw or heard what happened or who recognises the description of the woman or the man.”
