YOB camp provespopular with young

A first activity holiday for the Youth of Bognor proved a great success.

The YOB Camp was attended by 50 youngsters aged from eight to 14 from a number of schools, churches and clubs around the town.

Among the activities on offer were abseiling, kayaking, raft-building and caving as well as jewellery making and nail art for the slightly less adventurous.

The leaders also provided unusual entertainment with a synchronised swimming routine in the paddling pool.

The camp took place at Viney Hill Christian Activity Centre near Chepstow.

One of the leaders, Kevin Finniear, said: 'The camp was a great success.

'The young people showed the most amazing determination and courage during some of the activities.

'It was also great to see so many of them making friends that they can keep in touch with now that they are back home.

'Our aim is to make a real difference to the lives of young people in Bognor.'

Different churches supported the venture.

Leaders came from Bognor Vineyard, Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and St Mary Magdalene CoE Church in South Bersted.

The next YOB camp is planned for Easter in Horsham.

Day activities are also being organised.

A weekend break is possible as well for those who want to get together again but will be too old for next year's camp.
