After having read David Vine’s Island Of Shame, Crawley should be twinned with the Chagos Islands - as well as Dorsten - and be declared a Nuclear-Free Zone on the 70th Anniversary of the Hiroshima-Nagasaki Bombings in August 1945.

An Anniversary event is planned for next month - Let The Children Speak - on Sunday August 9 from 10.30am to 11.30am (2 minute silence at 11.02am), at Tilgate Park, Crawley (under the Ginkgo Tree by ‘Smith & Western’).

There will be a small open-air exhibition of children’s drawings and pictures depicting war. All are welcome - especially the children.

Richard W Symonds, 70th anniversary event organiser, Ifield Village
