Our sincere thanks for the gracious tribute paid by your reporter Karen Dunn to the the young Danny Martin (The boy who called all men equal,Crawley Observer, November 11).
I knew Danny at that time and I know just how right Karen is in all her tributes to him.
I will never forget Danny’s mother Barbara in my home straight after being told that Danny had just three months to live. To see the pictures of that funeral is a reminder of what just one person can achieve with a little perseverance and help.
Karen, you are an exceptional reporter, your insight and feeling is so touching 40 years later.

The staff and parents at Tykes pre-school are extremely happy with the result of our recent Ofsted inspection. We have as a team worked very hard in putting everything into place to achieve this outcome. Under the new criteria pre-schools will get half day notice of the inspection but as the pre-school had ‘requires improvement’ at the last inspection we did not receive this. We feel as a team, that not having notice is better, as Ofsted will find you performing as you are and not under pretence, which is always possible, given notice. The team have spent a lot of time building up good relationships with families of the children that attend, as well as continuing with professional development of themselves, this we believe has helped with the outcome of ‘Good’ that we received and move us forward.
