There was a typically biased letter in the Crawley Observer (Wednesday May 17) from one of Labour’s local councillors criticising Conservative Parliamentary candidate Henry Smith for not being at an NUT (National Union of Teachers – of which I too am a member) meeting last month.
He was in Parliament until late that night working for his constituents, where he should be, and had given his apologies weeks before.
Indeed, Henry Smith has led the call for fairer resourcing of Crawley schools to the Government, successfully resulting in our town now set to be the second highest funded for education out of any in the country. While Labour make cheap remarks, Henry Smith has been achieving millions of pounds extra for Crawley pupils and replacing the old Blair administration funding formula which saw West Sussex schools receive about half what those in London did. Thank you Henry.
