We will welcome refugees with open hearts and arms when they arrive in Crawley. These refugees are fleeing war and violence in one of the largest refugee crises ever recorded.
We are grateful to Conservative and Labour councillors of Crawley Borough Council for passing a Motion where it was agreed to support the County Council in meeting the county’s refugee obligations. We are grateful, too, that they will write to the Prime Minister expressing support for increasing the UK’s commitment in addressing the ongoing global need for asylum, and asking for resources to be made available to meet the needs of both refugees and existing residents.
The people of Crawley have always come together during previous periods of humanitarian crisis and will do so again.
