Many of your readers will have been inconvenienced by the recent closure of the Balcombe road between Horley and Crawley due to essential gas main repairs.
The consequent impact on other roads around Crawley and Horley will have made the daily commute even more difficult than usual. I wonder how many readers will consider that one of the many negative effects if Gatwick Airport does succeed in pressing its on-going argument for a second runway will be traffic chaos in the area due to the closure / re-routing of roads affected by the building of a second runway.
The experience of the last two week’s should be a clear warning for the future of the impact on Crawley’s roads and traffic if Gatwick is allowed to expand. Unfortunately the chaos will last for years rather than weeks on roads which are already struggling to cope during the rush hour.
