ARCHERY PRODIGY HITS THE TARGET

AT just 11 years of age the sky is the limit for archery protege Tyler White as he continues to obliterate records and opponents in equal measure.

The Bayeux Bowman Archery Club in Sidley member has just returned from the Sussex Championship with all manner of accolades tucked away in his locker.

The Westerleigh Schoolboy took the under-12s' Compound Championship on Saturday before an arguably even greater achievement when finishing runner-up in the under-18s event 24 hours later.

In the process he also tagged two more Sussex under-12 records onto the three he had already amassed. He scored 1174 in the Bristol Four and 1036 in the Burntwood round to sit alongside the double Bristol Four (2255), junior Windsor round (852) and junior Western round (802) achieved in past meetings.

Grandfather Terry was naturally overjoyed with Tyler's seemingly limitless talent. He said: "He had a great weekend. It was fairly tight but the standard was brilliant. This weekend was his best yet and he's got his sights set on the national squad next year."

Tyler's next goal is to represent Sussex at the Inter County Championship in August.
