Bexhill renew promotion challenge

BEXHILL renew their challenge to win promotion from the Sussex Second Division on Saturday July 6 when rivals Stirlands visit The Polegrove.

Although Bexhill beat Stirlands by four wickets last month, skipper Sam Roberts believes they will be a tougher prospect this time around.

"They seem to be getting better and better by the looks of it," he said.

"I'm optimistic but I will be looking for an improvement in the batting from the majority of players. I can't fault our fielding and bowling as nobody has scored more than 200 against us this year. There can't be many teams that can boast that."

Basement boys Sidley take a break from their troubled league campaign but face Premier Division leaders Hastings Priory in the Sussex Cup on Sunday.

Skipper Scott Woodroffe said: "They are a fantastic side with some great players. We have a lot of respect for them but if we play like we have done in the last two or three weeks we can certainly give them a good game."
