BEXHILL SKIPPER PRAISES TEAM SPIRIT

BEXHILL Cricket Club captain Steve Phillimore has saluted the character displayed by his side to recover from their trouncing at the hands of Littlehampton to produce successive displays which deserved to win matches.

Haywards Heath's last pair held on for a draw the weekend before last while Bexhill contrived to surrender a winning position in their narrow defeat at Roffey on Saturday. He said: "We have come back well, in the field in particular. Everyone's quite upbeat and saying we are playing well. We are certainly not cast adrift and our bonus points are the second highest in the league. The backing for me has been brilliant - the team has backed me up 100 per cent. There's never been any moaning or despondency."

Bexhill entertain second-placed St James' Montefiore tomorrow (Saturday). Neil Blatchley is unavailable but Alan Cowley and Martin Phillimore return.
