Saturday’s 95-94 defeat at the Glow in Bluewater in Kent came despite the Crawley fighter having knocked his opponent down in the sixth round.

Jones, 32, said: “It’s not just me who saw it as a win, it’s the whole crowd. Everybody who was here agreed. It was the wrong decision.

“I’m a talented boxer who is going on to bigger and better things and that’s ended me. That’s my lot.

“It’s upsetting and a real shame for me, my trainer Paul Devlin, my manager Micky Hennessey and to boxing.

“To be totally honest the first two rounds were close and I could give him them, other than that the rest were mine and I had a 10-8 round when I put him down. I heard the announcer say 95 which meant is was close and then he gave it to him. What a shock!

“That’s the second time in a row. In Spain it was exactly the same. On my own turf I don’t expect any favours but I expect a fair result!

“That’s twice I’ve been robbed and it’s disgusting. My record shows five losses but I won here and I won in Spain and I drew with Lee Selby who is now a World class boxer.”

Jones’ scheduled opponent Ruddy Encarnation from Spain followed his original Polish opponent in dropping out and the promotors announced Jones was to fight Bustos from Majorca at lunchtime on Friday at the weight-in.

The change also meant the bout was not for the IBA World title which had been billed beforehand to Jones’ 500-strong army of fans and the press covering the show.

There had also been three different dates and three different venues announced before this fight actually took place.
