Boxing legend's brother attends club's inaugural Alan Minter Race for Life

Crawley Boxing Club made the first of their fund raising efforts on Saturday with the inaugural Alan Minter race for life.

Some of the clubs current and past boxers ran the 5k course raising £400 for Cancer Research in honour of the former undisputed middleweight champion of the world who sadly passed away a couple of weeks ago.

Alan’s brother Micky, the former light middleweight champion,was on hand to get the run underway at the club gym in Three Bridges, and was overwhelmed by the willingness of the fighters at his club who took part.

Club secretary and coach Ron Parsons, who organised the fun run, said afterwards that he hoped it would turn into an annual event to raise money for Cancer Research, and to ensure that the name of the greatest boxer the town has ever produced will always be remembered.
