Boxing show set to pack a punch

A bumper night of boxing is in prospect as West Hill hosts a dinner/spectator show tonight (Saturday).

Somewhere between 15 and 18 bouts are expected to take place at the Phoenix Arts Centre in support of St Michael’s Hospice.

Competition secretary John Verlander has matched a championship standard show featuring an array of talent from all over the country to face the young lions of West Hill.

On the bill will be local favourite Barry Buchanan, Junior ABA Championship semi-finalists Liam Foster and Rhys Verlander, and West Hill’s new heavyweight hope Jamie Lennard.

Food will be served from 7pm with boxing starting at 8pm. There are a few spectator tickets left, but they are going quickly so interested parties are advised to arrive in good time to avoid disappointment. These tickets are

priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.

Lennard and Verlander had a wasted journey to Balham, London, last Saturday night after their opponents on a show hosted by the Big T club came in well above the agreed weight, meaning the bouts didn’t go ahead.
