Horsham boxer Harry on winning streak

HARRY Orsini chalked up back to back wins during a busy two weeks for Horsham ABC.

The junior boxed well behind his jab to beat Hastings’ Thomas Borthwick at the Hove show two weeks ago, where rising star Danny Kirkland returned to the ring to take on Weymouth’s Toby Osgood. Former England puncher Osgood had age and experience on his side.

Although Kirkland lost narrowly, he gained valuable ring time ahead of the junior ABAs later this year.

On the same bill, Ben Pringle lost a controversial decision to home boxer Armando Lucca. Pringle tried to make the fight clean and to box but the Hove puncher was determined to hold and the fight became a scrappy affair.

And last weekend, Orsini returned to the ring to beat strong southpaw Alfie Essex at the Icent ABC show in Gravesham.

At the end of a tough fight, Orsini took a majority points decision against the home favourite.

Also over the last two weekends, Horsham’s young juniors aged between 9 and 13 all competed in no decision gym tournaments in Camberley and Hastings as they had a chance to sample the atmosphere of an amateur show and display their talents in a controlled environment.
