He hopes this will be the preview to a world title eliminator fight later in the year which he would love to hold at the Checkatrade.com Stadium or in Southgate Playing Fields.

Jones, 33, warmed up with a victory against Slovakian Elemir Rafael at York Hall in Bethnal Green, East London in front of 150 of his fans on Saturday.

Jones said: “It was mission accomplished. It was a good sparring session which was paid for!”

Jones is currently ranked number seven on the WBO list but does not know yet know who his opponent will be at Crawley as this be arranged closer to the date by the WBO, but is expected to be in the world’s top 50.

The show is being called Clash of the Titans.

Jones said: “It’s lovely to be back at Crawley and will be nice for the fans who have travelled all around the country to watch me. We sold 260 tickets on the first night, so tickets are going fast!”

Jones wants an even bigger venue for his following fight and will be approaching Crawley Town’s prospective new owners.

He added: “If I win this I would like to put on something really big like at Broadfield Stadium.

“It would be good for the club as I could bring in new fans who might come back to watch football.”
