Sussex League Division 3

Crawley Eagles made it two wins in two games as they won by four wickets away at Burgess Hill.

Winning the toss Eagles captain Imran asked the hosts to bat first.

The home side batters stuck in and worked hard to bat out their full quota of overs.

In the end a total of 168 all out in 50 overs was a par score Jack Simpson top scored with 66, Imran Mehboob once again produced a typical spell as he only went for 12 runs of his eight overs to follow up last week’s 3-26 off 16 overs. This means in the last two games Imran has bowled 24 overs for only 38 runs.

But this week it was great to see a new strike bowler bagging his first 5fer, Rilwan Mohammed 5-31 blew away the lower order to gain full bowling points.

A solid 56 by vice captain Amaar Suddazahai and a quick fire 26 from Tayyab Mahmood playing his first game helped the visitors get to 169-7.

George Willett had the great figures of 3-27 of his 8 overs.

Eagles captain Imran said: “It was great to see the team fight all the way and not give up. I am looking forward to carrying on this momentum into next week and beyond.”

Eagles travel to Goring 1st XI on Saturday.
