Division 2

Billingshurst 209-6 dec

Billingshurst won the toss and chose to bat first on a flat pitch.

Captain Olle Blandford struck twice with the new ball, removing Scott Stratton and Tom Haynes for low scores, then a partnership built between Stuart Barber and Ed Verrall which took Billingshurst up to 146-3. Archit Patel bowled with real control for his 17 overs and managed to pick up two wickets.

The wickets from Patel and two run outs at the end of the innings halted the Billingshurst acceleration as they ended 209-6 off 53 overs.

Captain Blandford said: “Whilst it’s not a win, not giving away cheap points to the opposition could be key come the end of the season.”

In reply Bridges started well but were in the similar position of 30-3 after Conor Golding, Jack Biden and James Russell all fell.

Joe Walker and Blandford occupied the crease for a while but then got out, meaning Bridges were five down with a lot of runs still required.

Rather than throw wickets away and lose the game Dan Alderman and Mike Rose dug in to see out the last 20 overs, keeping out whatever Billingshurst said or bowled at them.

Alderman ended 61 not out to see Bridges reach 136-6 off 47 overs as the game ended in a draw.
