Eagles won the toss and inserted the guests who got off to a flyer with the openers smashing 70 in the first 11 overs, on a great batting track the visitors scored 229 all out with John Edwards top scoring with 62.

Bowlers Jibran Khan and Fazlan both took three-fors as they dismissed Chichester for 229.

Eagles needed a good start if they were to overhaul the total but lost early wickets and at one point were at at 157-4. Rehan Hassan was out for a brilliant 81 a welcome return to form for last year’s top run scorer.

Eagles still looked in good position to challenge but a cluster of wickets at the wrong time ended the innings at 190 all out Daniel Weigi being the successful bowler claiming 5-48.

Eagles captain Imran Suddahazai said: “It was disappointing to lose but it was good to see Rehan Hasan get some runs as he is vital player in our batting line-up.

“We are still very positive and well placed as we reach the half way point of the season a big game next week away to league leaders Bognor will be a good test for us but I am confident that the team will get back to winning ways.”
