Imran's five-wicket haul sets up Eagles for thrilling win

Impressive Imran Mehboob's 5-40 helped Crawley Eagles to win a thrilling game against high flying Ansty first team at Cherry Lane.

The hosts won the toss and elected to bat but were soon in trouble as the top five batsmen were all out with the score on 45.

An attacking innings of 38 from Usman Bashir helped the home side reach 101 all out Jethro Menzie 4-37 and Jack Paiser 4-29 were the pick of the bowlers.

That score was well below-par against a strong batting team.

But once again the bowlers came to the rescue for the hosts as Mehboob claimed the first three wickets with his trademark swing bowling.

He was well supported by the pace of Atif Ali who kept it very tight at the other end and ended the day with 2-25 of his 14 overs.

Anjum Zafar also picked 2-16 as Eagles skittled Ansty out for 84 winning another close and tense game.

This was another tense and hard fought game with the Eagles bowlers again saving the team and registering their third win of the season.

The team will be hoping the batsmen find some form and stability in the top order soon to pay back the recent effort of the bowlers.

Eagles travel to Lindfield first XI on Saturday.

Crawley Eagles 2nd XI v Stirlands 2nd XI

Eagles registered their fifth win of the season as they beat Stirlands by six wickets which helped them keep the top spot in the league.

It was a solid team performance from team as they bowled out the home side for 155 with Bishrul Hameed claiming 2-11 all the others bowlers chipped in with a wicket but a good fielding display helped by three run outs kept the hosts contained.

Eagles’ reply was once again lead by the captain Nasir Khan his solid 39 was well supported by Shankar 30 and 43 not out from Fallah Uddin as the visitors chased down the target in 30 overs to claim the 30 points and continue the winning run.
