MID-SUSSEX LEAGUE ROUND-UP: Smith and Taucher star for Ashdown Forest

Ashdown Forest (30) won home to Dormansland (0) by 199 runs in which Michael Smith and Jacob Taucher starred for Ashdown Forest in Division 1 of the H. J. Stoner Ltd Mid-Sussex Cricket League.

Michael scored 133 not out, Sebastion Neaves 51 not and Jacob chipped in with 48 as Ashdown Forest set Dormansland a target of 259. However, Jacob’s 5 for 19 helped as Dormansland were bowled out for 59.

The other matches in Division 1 were a lot lower scoring affairs. Streat & Westmeston (4) were bowled out by Colemans Hatch (30) for 127 with Roshan Withangamge taking 6 for 31 before Colemans Hatch chased their target for 1 wicket and Steve Pollard scoring 56 not out.

Palmers (3) were bowled out for 120 by Chailey (30) with Vikram Kant taking 3 for 34 and Danny Andrews scoring 65 not out as Chailey reached their target losing just 3 wickets.

Cuckfield (5) were bowled out for 100 as Andrew Stillwell took 6 for 20 for Balcombe (30) who also lost 7 wickets as Matt Slinger took 3 for 28 but this wasn’t enough to stop Balcombe taking the win.

Edenbridge (0) were bowled out for 92, with Extras being the top score, and Jack Collins taking 6 for 13. During Bolney’s (30) chase they lost their only wicket after 4 balls and then Dean Hamilton (46 not out) and Kingsley Morris (44 not out) reached the target during the next 15.1 overs.

Ardingly (13) were asked to bat first in their Division 2 draw against Horsted Keynes (11). Abhijit Lohokare scored 87 and Harvey James took 4 for 46 as Ardingly reached 217 runs. Horsted Keynes could only manage 202 with Tom Robinson 93 not and Abhi Lohakare took 4 for 64.

Lindfield 3 (26) reached 164 as James Rothman took 5 for 41 for Balcombe 2 (8) before Lloyd Fielder took 5 for 34 and David Parry 4 for 32 bowled Balcombe 2 out for just 66.

Hurstpierpoint (9) were restricted to 163 as Dan Wescott scored 64 and Richard Brooks took 4 for 26. Joe Cutress then scored 74 for Poynings (28) as they successfully reached their target losing 7 wickets with Ian Holmes taking 4 for 38.

Mohammad Ali’s 59 not out was the highlight as Roffey 3 (7) were bowled out for 129 David Symes taking 4 for 35. Preston Nomads 3 (30) managed chase their target for 6 wickets.

Staplefield (30) scored 212 as Jordan Martin added 55 before Nick Mercardo took 4 for 13 as East Grinstead 3 (11) were bowled out for just 112.

In Division 3 Matt Lake took 8 for 22 as Turners Hill (30) bowled Lingfield 3 (0) out for just 48 and then chased their target in just 50 balls.

Jeremy Stevens scored 53 not out and took Jeremy Stevens 4 for 21 as Brunswick Village (30) beat Palmers 2 (8) by 75 runs. Jano Khan scores 59 as Palmers 2 reached 129 for 3 before collapsing to 134 all out, thanks to Jeremy Stevens and David Price (3 for 18).

Cowden (30) had a closer affair with Burgess Hill 3 (12). Adam Booth scored 57 as Burgess Hill were bowled out for 177, with Andy Hancock (4 for 33) and Richard Hall (4 for 37) leading the bowling. Cowden just reached their target but lost 9 wickets as they did so.

Smallfield (6) were bowled out for 135 with John Strickland taking 4 for 39 for Preston Nomads 4 (30).Although they lost 5 wickets Preston Nomads 4 scored enough to take the win.

Geoff Kite scored 85 as Dormansland 2 (9) were bowled out for 165 with help from Arvind Raina (5 for 45) and Anand Sawant (4 for 42). Copthorne (12) were unable to chase their target in 49 overs and played out the draw.

In Division 4 Tim Cox starred for Edenbridge 2 (24) as his 3 for 26 help restrict Bolney 2 (6) before he scored 63 not out with his opening partner Jon Woodman (78 not out) as Edenbridge cruised to a 10 wicket victory.

Keymer & Hassocks 3 (30) managed a 7 wicket victory over Cuckfield 4 (1) as Nigel Hartley took 7 for 21 helping bowl out Cuckfield 4 for 62.

Cowfold & Lower Beeding (24) won by 78 runs over Ansty 3(10). Alister Waite scored 72 not out and Morgan Lapina-Amarelle took 4 for 48 as Cowfold reached 131 before Ian Robinson took 5 for 24 as Ansty 3 were bowled out for 53.

Streat & Westmeston 2 (10) were bowled out for 155 as Dave Porter scored 68 and Stephen Fallowell took 5 for 48 for Lingfield 4 (30). 58 runs from Stuart Aldrich helped Lingfield 4 gain the win with just 9 balls remaining.

Lindfield 4 (8) played out a draw with Balcombe 3 (10). John Sage scored 60 not out and Rupert Diggins took 6 for 26 and Lindfield 4 failed to chase the 171 scored by Balcombe including 53 from Tony Rawbin.

Lingfield 5 (0) had a difficult outing in their first match in Division 5 as they were bowled out for 57 as Dave Port took 4 for 20 as Ardingly 2 (30) completed a 10 wicket victory. Ansty 4 (7) were restricted to 170 in their 8 wicket lost to Roffey 4 (28) as Prince Jose scored 82 runs during the case.

St James’s Montefiore 3 (28) beat Hurstpierpoint 2 (7) by 71 runs. Bertie Donaldson scored 57 as St James scored 185. Dale Stevenson took 4 for 19 as Hurstpierpoint 2 were bowled out for 114 even though David (Jasper) Hill scored 69.
