This week sees one Shark continue his Big Bash League campaign in Australia and another three Sussex stars called up to England women’s squad for their tour of New Zealand.

Phil Salt continued his Big Bash League campaign with the Adelaide Strikers as they looked to continue their good form to stay in the top four spots for finals by taking on Melbourne Stars.

After Rashid Khan had helped the Strikers to a five-wicket win earlier in the week before his departure for national duty with Afghanistan, Salt would have looked to pick up where he left off.

However, the Strikers were well off the pace as chasing a total of 180 to win, they were bowled out for 68, the third-lowest Big Bash League total of all time and the second-lowest of the season.

Salt was unable to contribute much, scoring five off eight balls as he was dismissed by Rashid’s international teammate Zahir Khan. The defeat meant that the Strikers slipped out of the top four and now sit sixth but only a point separates them from the top four.

Three Sussex players have been called up for England women’s tour of New Zealand.

Freya Davies, Danni Wyatt and Georgia Elwiss have been selected in the 16-player squad for the series beginning in February which will see England take on New Zealand in three T20Is and three ODIs.
