DRESSAGE STABLE SUPPORTS HOSPICE

BOXGROVE Competition Stables has played a major part in raising money for St Wilfrid's Hospice in Chichester thanks to Melissa Brooks, who runs and owns the yard with husband Nick.

Melissa is a member of the Boxgrove Support Group for St Wilfrid's Hospice, which has raised 8,000 for this worthy cause over the past 18 months.

Now the total is expected to be given a significant boost following a highly successful dressage event last week.

To add to the total raised by the show itself, equestrian photographer Peter Cox donated five per cent of his takings to the hospice fund.

The charity event attracted around 70 entries, and members of the fund-raising group ran the refreshments, while local companies provided a huge variety of raffle prizes, from manicure vouchers to dog food. Arundel Equine Hospital provided the rosettes.

With perfect weather, everything ran smoothly and just under 70 tests from Preliminary to Medium were held, with competitors coming from as far afield as Brighton, Fareham and Petersfield.
