ELLA IN ENGLAND SQUAD

ANGMERING schoolgirl Ella Joines has been selected for the final England Under-14 basketball squad of 24 who are set to play a series of friendly matches in France later this month, and in Spain and Yugoslavia during the latter stages of the year.

Ella, who is 13 and lives in the village, had terrific 2002 when representing Brighton Bears.

In April, they reached the final of the national play-offs in Sheffield, where Ella the only girl in a field of boys was voted Most Valuable Player.

Selection for South-East England U-14s at Nottingham followed in July, which led to the running guard being picked for consideration to join the national squad.
