Farewell to Rod after 28 years at the helm

A FAMILIAR face will be missing from Goodwood racecourse from the end of next year. Managing director Rod Fabricius will be leaving following a long association with the course.

He explained: "It has been my intention for some time to make the change and 60 is a good time as I will have completed 28 years by the end of 2010.

He added: "It is often said that Goodwood is the most beautiful racecourse in the world and it has been a great privilege to have worked here over such an extended period greatly assisted by a strong management team under the direction of a supportive Board chaired by the Duke of Richmond."

The decision to make the announcement now is to allow the board of directors sufficient time to find a suitable replacement, who will initially be recruited as commercial director and who will be able to work alongside Rod.

Rod joined Goodwood in 1982 as general manager and clerk of the course, having previously worked at Haydock Park, Chepstow, Lingfield Park and Aintree.
