FOOTBALL: Worthing skipper Ben Andrews targets the title

WORTHING Football Club captain Ben Andrews believes his side are now firmly in the hunt for the Ryman League Division 1 South title after Rebels ended leaders Kingstonian's unbeaten record on Monday evening.

The 3-1 win, Rebels' fourth league victory in succession, lifted them to eighth place with games in hand on all the teams above them, and Andrews said: "I think we're very much in the hunt for the league.

"Everyone at the club before the season started believed, if we played well, we could push for automatic promotion. And, at the moment, it looks very realistic.

"Kingstonian was a top result. To travel up there, and get three points is excellent. Before the game, we would have been happy with a draw, but we performed well and thoroughly deserved the win."

However, Andrews does not want to get too carried away and on Saturday's trip to lowly Walton Casuals warned: "It's another tough game, and we will approach it in exactly the same way as any other.

"This is the type of league where anyone can beat anyone, and we are well aware of that. We must ensure we prepare properly to ensure the best result.

"In previous seasons, we have had a knack of beating the top sides and not performing so well against some of the weaker teams in the league. This is something we know we need to change to push for the title."
