A record crowd of over 30,000 saw another excellent performance from Brighton against holders Arsenal in the fourth round of the FA Cup last weekend but the Gunners ran out worthy winners and they are 11/4 at BetVictor to retain the Trophy at Wembley in May.

Albion travel to the Lancashire coast this weekend and a meeting with a Blackpool side currently ten points from safety and bottom of the Championship table. The Tangerines have only picked up three points on the road this season but one of them was against the Seagulls but they might not recognise this rejuvenated Albion side from the one who they met back in September.

The Seagulls have only won one of their last six visits to Bloomfield Road but are unbeaten in their last five against the Tangerines and are strong favourites. Chris Hughton’s side are 4/5 favourites to return home with all three points with the hosts 18/5 and the draw 13/5.

A place in the play-offs looks unrealistic but the Seagulls are 4/1 at BetVictor for a top half finish and they are only five points off Nottingham Forest who currently occupy 12th place in the table.

That must be the objective for the rest of the season. Having been as short as 2/1 for relegation in December the Seagulls are out to 8/1 for the drop.

Chris O’Grady and Sam Baldock scored against Arsenal last weekend and are 5/1 to grab the opening goal at the weekend.

The Tangerines conceded seven goals in 45 minutes at Vicarage Road Watford last weekend but they won their last home game in the Championship 1-0 against Millwall and manager Lee Clark will want a positive reaction after their collapse against the Hornets.

I remember staying at the Blackpool FC Hotel for the BetVictor World Matchplay Darts back in July and the fans descended on the hotel asking for answers. At the time they had twelve available players signed on and at least two of those were keepers.

They have only scored nine goals in 13 home games but it should be worth noting they have only conceded 19 in those thirteen games and that is only two fewer than top of the table Bournemouth.

It will be a tough game but the Seagulls should come out on top and they are a confident selection to make it nine points out of a possible 12 during January.
