The 17th-placed Seagulls remain without a home league win all season and in serious relegation danger, sitting just three points ahead of Fulham in 18th place.

But Potter ditched his customary club tracksuit in favour of a shirt, tie and tailored overcoat for the first Premier League game of 2021.

He said: “I thought I’d change from my bad tracksuit to my own bad clothes!

“The boys could see me on the side, they look at me in my shocking gear and my terrible haircut and my horrible face and think, ‘well, it’s not too bad out there!’

“I fancied a change, 2021. I am going to be myself, wear my own clothes, I am fine with that.”

And Brighton fans were quick to react to their manager’s funny comments – here's how YOU reacted on Twitter:

@ryanadsett: Graham Potter - what a legend.”

@DomHaward: “Glad that our manager appears to be flirting with a midlife crisis during the most challenging period of his career.”

@Ryanmoss58: “Yessssssssss.”

@numbers_squad: “My ‘own clothes’ like a non-uniform day or dress down Friday...”

@SamuelAdams89: “Haha love it!!”

@mattdesignme: “Are Brighton just too nice? Gifting own goals and penalties around, always there to give a struggling side a boost to end their bad run etc etc. Hopefully Graham Potter’s change of style is just what we need to change that in 2021 and pick up the points that the xG/xGA deserve!”
