Dunk was judged to have handled the ball in the box and after being checked by the Video Assistant Referee, a penalty was awarded by referee Graham Scott – which Ruben Neves converted.

Lineker tweeted: "Another VAR handball fiasco as Wolves are given a ludicrous penalty."

Fortunately for Albion it was an decision that did not comeback to haunt them as they secured a deserved victory and moved to sixth in the Premier League table.

Their new Italian manager Roberto De Zerbi had a slow start to life at Brighton but has now recorded back to back wins and are playing some excellent football in the process.

It was Pascal Gross’ late winner that finally broke Wolves’ hearts but the hosts still proved to new boss Julen Lopetegui they are up for the Premier League survival fight.

Gross’ late strike sealed a 3-2 win for Brighton just as it looked like Wolves would hold on to a point after Nelson Semedo’s first-half red card.

Goncalo Guedes’ first Wolves goal and Ruben Neves’ penalty had given the hosts a 2-1 lead after Adam Lallana’s sublime opener.

Kaoru Mitoma levelled before Semedo was dismissed and Gross won it to maintain Brighton’s European charge and end the hosts’ stubborn resistance.
