Nichols came through the youth ranks at Exeter City before going out on loan to Hereford and Dorchester. He broke into the Grecians first team in the 2013/14 season and subsequently played 112 matches scoring on 36 occasions before earning a move to Peterborough in 2016.

He played on over 50 occasions for the Posh scoring 14 times. He signed for Bristol rovers in July 2017, making 117 appearances during his time at the Memorial Ground.

Technical director Erdem Konyar said: “Tom comes at a good age and with EFL pedigree of League 1 and 2. He has a good familiarity with some of our players and staff. He will become an important part of our attacking force.”

Head coach John Yems said: “I have known Tom for a long time and I think he can be a really good asset for the club. There were numerous clubs after Tom so it is a compliment to everyone here that he has decided to sign for Crawley.”
