Cooper: '˜We were professional and patient to beat Langney
Crawley Down Gatwick manager Paul Cooper praised his side's display in beating Langney Wanderers 3-0 to maintain their two-point lead at the top of Southern Combination League Division One.
He said: “I was pleased with what a professional and patient performance it was from us today.
“In the first half we had the weather conditions in our favour and knew we had to take advantage. Dave Houlders finished off a lovely move in the first ten minutes, But we weren’t able to add to it despite creating a lot of chances.
“The impressive part was the second half when we expected Langney to use the wind to their advantage and hit the dangerman Wayne Wilkinson to try and nick a goal – but we never gave them a chance and restricted them to probably one or two shots on goal all game.
“Ben Brooker wasn’t fully fit after being injured last Saturday, but I named him on the bench in case we needed a goal. At 1-0 I just felt he could perhaps unlock that door and put us out of sight which he did. He took his goal well and you could see the opposition’s body language go after this.”
