Walton Casuals 5

By Mike May

Crawley Down slipped to second to bottom with an uninspiring display by midtable Walon Casuals.

The visitors put the Anvils under pressure straight away Djibril Fofana whose shot was taken by keeper Luke Badiali.

A right wing cross by Liam Collins sailed through the porous Anvil defence into the net.

A break by Simon Huckle led to him feeding ex-Anvil Gaby Odunaike to lash home Walton’s second goal.

Tom Frankland broke loose down the right to square the ball across the goal to substitute Larry Akanbi who blazed over his shot five minutes before half-time.

They took advantage of the gusty wind on their backs to pin the Anvils, The third duly arrived on 36 minutes when Odunaike was brought down to earth with Collins scoring from the spot.

The best was yet to come as another free-kick far out right landed in the box and Stags’ Fofana with his back to goal, scissor-kicked it into the near corner of the net to reach the break leading 4-0.

The game as a whole was really ugly to watch what with the cold biting wind and the bobbly surface was certainly not made for the connoisseur.

As the second half progressed Steve Sargent forced the Walton’s keeper into action from a 30-yard free-kick.

In the last few minutes two crosses from Miles Mitchell found Tom Frankland with an open goal but he snatched his shots off-target on the bobbly surface.
